It is officially the start of 2023, and Pantone has released their Color of the Year.  For us at Investing By Design, it is always exciting and filled with guesses, most of which we get wrong. This year’s color of the year is….Viva Magenta!!!. 

If you don’t already know, every year, Pantone highlights a color that suits and reflects our current culture. According to Pantone, Viva Magenta, a crimson red tone, is a hybrid shade that is emblematic of our “reality in the physical and digital world”. Viva Magenta is “powerful, encouraging, and electrifying”. This newly animated shade truly encourages self-expression, bravery, and acceptance. 

This specific shade of Magenta was influenced by one of the oldest dyes- acquired from a scale insect, cochineal. This shade has the power to make a statement, and bring life and a pop of color to any visual. As we noted last week, we think one of the 2023 trends will be more jeweled tones and the announcement of this color reinforces that thought.  Just keep in mind, Viva Magenta is a passionate color that could easily consume a design if not allocated with intent, so be careful, but enjoy the empowered creativity! 

We at Investing by Design love to be design forward, and have already started incorporating these red hues in some of our new upcoming projects. Viva Magenta is the balance of warm and cool tones, it communicates love, devotion, and competency.
